Academic All-America Teams

The awards just keep coming for Gopher hammer thrower Quentin Mege. Less than two weeks after he wrapping up his junior season at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Mege has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America Men's Track/Cross Country third team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Chelles, France native turned in an outstanding outdoor season, pitching eight of the top 10 throws for the Golden Gophers. He earned his second-consecutive Big Ten Championship after shattering Minnesota's school record in the hammer with a 220-1 (67.08m) mark. In addition to the conference title, Mege finished fifth at the NCAA Championship, second at the NCAA West Preliminary, first at the Iowa Musco Twilight, and third at the Drake Relays. He never fell outside the top five in any competition on the year.

In the classroom, Mege has worked toward an impressive 3.94 GPA as part of Minnesota's prestigious mechanical engineering program.

The Capital One Academic All-America program recognizes the student-athletes who have made significant contributions to their team while also maintaining a high academic standing. Mege was recognized as an Academic All-Big Ten and Academic All-District VI selection to qualify for All-America status.
