The No. 2 University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Wrestling team will host No. 20 Purdue and Wyoming this weekend at the Sports Pavilion.
THIS WEEK IN MINNESOTA WRESTLING
The No. 2 Gophers will host the No. 20 Purdue Boilermakers to open Big Ten competition on Friday evening at the Sports Pavilion beginning at 7:30 p.m. before moving their attention to Wyoming on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
SCOUTING NO. 20 PURDUE
No. 20 Purdue is coming off a 27-7 win over Duke last weekend. The Boilmakers were able to walk away with wins in eight of ten bouts. The Gophers lead the all-time series, 35-9-2, and have walked away victorious in their last six meetings with Purdue.

The Cowboys are also coming off a win last weekend after they defeated Boise State, 17-15, sealing the victory with a win in the last match of the evening. The Cowboys are not ranked but have confidence after starting the season 1-0.

RANKINGS
The Golden Gophers are starting the season ranked second in the nation's dual polls. Returning seven All-Americans with nine ranked Gophers, seven of them in the top five in their respective weight classes, has allowed the Gophers to sit atop the polls for the 2013-14 season.
Ranked Gopher wrestlers include David Thorn (No. 8 at 133), Chris Dardanes (No. 5 at 141), Nick Dardanes (No. 4 at 149), Dylan Ness (No. 3 at 157), Danny Zilverberg (No. 16 at 165), Logan Storley (No. 5 at 174), Scott Schiller (No. 2 at 197) and the nation's top-ranked and two-time defending national champion at heavyweight, Tony Nelson.
GOPHERS INK SEVEN
The Golden Gophers have added seven members to the Minnesota Wrestling family for the 2014-15 season as Will Balow, Jack Bass, Ethan Lizak, Skyler Petry, Stephen Polakowski, Nathan Rose and Thomas Thorn signed National Letters of Intent last week.
