University of Minnesota men's track and field assistant coach Lynden Reder was selected to present a symposiusm on throwers at the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Convention earlier this week in Orlando, Fla.
Entering his sixth year as Minnesota's throws coach, Reder was responsible for the development of All-Americans Quentin Mege and Micah Hegerle, who combined to win the last four Big Ten outdoor titles in the hammer throw, as well as All-American Aaron Studt. In total, Reder has coached Minnesota student-athletes to a total of 13 All-America honors (seven indoor, six outdoor) and nine Big Ten individual titles (four indoor, five outdoor).
A former Gopher thrower himself, Reder went from walk-on to team captain and All-American. His hammer throw of 215-9 ft. (65.76 meters) stood as the school record before being broken by Mege.
