The Basics
Most of the Gophers who are competing this weekend will be at the Razorback Spring Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. The hammer throw will be the only event on Friday. Four runners (Laura Docherty, Katie Moraczewski, Kelli Budd and Liz Berkholtz) will travel to Stanford to race. Moraczewski will make her season debut in the steeplechase, which she ran at last year's NCAA West Preliminary.

Coach Says...
"I'm excited for us to grow," director of track and field/cross country Matt Bingle said. "We haven't had a lot of track time at home because of the snow, but we got a lot of good training done on our spring break trip to Las Vegas. This weekend will provide a good measure of where we're at."

Last Time Around
Minnesota competed at both the Arkansas and Stanford meets in 2012. Several current Gophers had success there last season. Todea-Kay Willis won the long jump at Arkansas with a mark of 20-1, and was part of the winning 4x100-meter relay along with Kylie Peterson. Paige Orcutt won the steeplechase. Megan Geyen (400m) and Katie Murgic (pole vault) turned in top-10 perfomances in Arkansas.

At Stanford, Katie Moraczewski and Molly Kayfes (steeplechase), along with Laura Docherty and Molly Kayfes (10,000m) ran top-10 times.

Spring Break Highlights
The Gophers spent part of their spring break training and competing in a small meet in Las Vegas. Minnesota won eight events at the UNLV Invitational. Personal-record, top-10 throws by Jeri Johnson-Chambers and Devin Stanford in the hammer highlighted the weekend. Johnson-Chambers (179-7) now ranks eighth in school history, while Stanford (179-3) ranks 10th.
