No. 24 Gophers Pick Up Three Titles in Iowa City

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The No. 24 Minnesota men's outdoor track and field team picked up three individual titles on Saturday at the 14th annual Iowa Musco Twilight in Iowa City.
Minnesota's 4x400 relay team of Jacob Capek, Harun Abda, Goaner Deng and Cameron Boy picked up another relay title on Saturday in Iowa City with a meet-best time of 3:13.10 - besting runner-up Iowa by over a second.
Nick Hutton paced the competition in the 800-meter run with a winning time of 1:51.51 as Minnesota finished with four of the top six times in the event. Michael Bolland finished third at 1:52.86, John Holton came in fifth at 1:53.29 and Jeffrey Cottrell came in sixth at 1:53.52.
The Gophers' third individual title came in the discus throw as Luke Johnson picked up the win with a toss of 49.80 meters.
Other notable performances for the Gophers included a second-place finish in the 4x100 (41.16 second), a second-place finish in the high jump by Wally Ellenson (2.11 meters), a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash by Kevin Bradley (48.47 seconds) and a third-place finish in the long jump by Oladipo Fagbemi (7.17 meters).
Additionally, Minnesota posted three of the top four finishers in the shot put including Mark Jennings' runner-up finish of 17.29 meters. Logan Hussung came in third at 16.94 meters and Luke Johnson finished fourth at 16.29 meters. Jennings' was also part of a trio of Gophers that placed in the discus, finishing fifth at 50.83 meters. Justin Barber led the pack with a third-place finish of 55.72 meters while Dominique Howard came in fourth at 53.13 meters.
