Gophers in Action at Windy City Classic

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. -- After two rounds of action at the Windy City Collegiate Classic, the University of Minnesota women's golf team sits in 13th place at Northmoor Country Club among some of the top competition in the country.
After carding a 302 as a team in Monday's first round, the Gophers finished the first day of competition with a 304 in the afternoon session to sit at a +38, 606.
Carmen Laguna (74-74--148) and Banchalee Theinthong (76-72--148) pace the Gophers at +6 after two rounds and find themselves in an eight-way tie for 37th.
Sarinee Thitiratanakorn (74-79--153)is tied for 57th at +11 after shooting a 74 and a 79 for a first-day 153. Anna Laorr (78-79--157; +15) and Emie Peronnin (79-80--159; +17)round out the Gophers contingency in Highland Park, tied for 68th and 76th, respectively.
Southern California leads the pack at the Windy City Collegiate Classic at -6, 284-278--562, one stroke in front of Oklahoma State and two in front of Arizona. The Trojans also boast the individual leader in Kyung Kim at -5, 69-68--137 -- one of seven competitors under par for the tournament.
Minnesota closes out the Windy City Collegiate Classic on Tuesday morning with the final round of action.
