Gophers Earn 74 Fall Academic All-B1G Honors

MINNEAPOLIS - On Wednesday morning, the Big Ten Conference announced 74 Minnesota student-athletes were named as Academic All-Big Ten selections to cap off a successful fall season for the Gopher both in competition and in the classroom.
This fall the Big Ten recognized 977 student-athletes for their commitment to excellence in the classroom. The University of Minnesota competes in five fall sports including football, men's and women's cross country, women's soccer and volleyball.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. Minnesota volleyball student-athlete Paige Tapp has maintained an unblemished cumulative GPA.
Minnesota's football program led the way for the Maroon and Gold with 30 honored student-athletes after a successful 8-4 season. The team will travel to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. to face Missouri on Jan. 1.
Women's cross country and women's soccer both added double-figure honorees to the list while men's cross country added six and women's volleyball named five to the list.
The conference's full list of honored student-athletes features 91 field hockey players, 299 football players, 77 men's and 153 women's cross country runners, 88 men's and 170 women's soccer players and 99 volleyball players.
