Minnesota Tabbed Fifth in Preseason Poll

MINNEAPOLIS - The 2015 Big Ten Preseason Coaches' Poll was released on Thursday afternoon and the Gophers were tabbed fifth by the league's coaches. Juniors Lindsay Mable and Madeline Hanley were named to the Big Ten Women's Gymnasts to Watch list.
The University of Michigan women's gymnastics team earned the coveted top spot in the coaches' poll while No. 2 Nebraska and No. 3 Illinois round out the top three. Ohio State, Minnesota, Penn State, Maryland, Michigan State, Iowa and Rutgers complete the poll selections.
This season's Gymnasts to Watch list includes eight All-Big Ten selections including Mable who earned All-American and All-Big Ten honors last season after finishing fifth on vault at the 2014 NCAA Individual Event Finals in April. Mable was the 2014 Big Ten All-Around Champion with a score of 39.650. Hanley was named to the Second Team All-Big Ten last season as well Academic All-Big Ten honors. In 2014, Hanley competed exclusively on the uneven parallel bars at 13 of the Gophers' 14 meets. She notched a career-best score of 9.925 when the Gophers hosted Iowa State last season on March 1.
Last season, Minnesota and Nebraska shared the Big Ten Women's Gymnastics Championship after finishing the regular season with 6-1 conference records, while the University of Michigan claimed the championship title.
The Maroon and Gold will host its annual Intrasquad Meet at the Sports Pavilion on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 4 p.m. CT. Minnesota begins regular season competition the following weekend as they host Iowa State with competition beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT. span>
