Siegmeier Picks Up Second Title for Season

STANFORD, Calif. (GopherSports.com) - Defending Big Ten indoor and outdoor champion Zach Siegmeier added his second outdoor title in as many meets at the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, Calif., this weekend.
The All-American led all competitors at the national meet with a height of 5.11 meters (16-09.25 ft.). The Lakewood, Ill., native was previously named the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week after winning the pole vault at the Baldy Castillo Invitational last month in the Gophers' outdoor opener.
Meanwhile, Brad Neumann finished first in his section and fourth overall in the 200 meters with a time of 21.65 while Goaner Deng won his section in the 800 meters and finished sixth overall with a time of 1:49.59. Trevor Yedoni finished fourth in the long jump (7.00 meters, 23-01.25 ft.)
Aaron Bartnik led his section in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:14.02. Alex Brend finished second in his 1,500 meter run section at 3:49.24 while Blayne Dulian came in fourth (3:50.22) followed by Marcus Paulson in fifth (3:50.46). Christian Skaret led his section of the 1,500 with a time of 3:52.42
Other notable performances included a sixth-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay (3:12.90), a sixth-place finish by Jordan Charles in the collegiate triple jump (14.22 meters, 46-08.00 ft.), and a seventh-place finish by Bob Nicolls in his section of the 3,000 meter steeplechase (8:59.13). Deng also finished eighth in the 400 meters (47.67) followed by Jacob Capek in ninth (47.77).
