Mable Leads Gophers to First B1G Win

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Junior Lindsay Mable earned her fourth consecutive all-around crown on Saturday afternoon en route to the University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team's (2-2) first conference win of the season. The Gophers outscored the Spartans, 196.875-195.750.
The meet marks the first Big Ten Conference win for new head coach, Jenny Hansen. The Gophers team score of 196.875 is their highest since scoring a 197.250 on March 1, 2014 when the Maroon and Gold hosted Iowa State.
In addition to earning the all-around crown, the Aurora, Colo. native earned two event titles on balance beam and floor exercise. Mable recorded her highest score of the season to date, 9.925, on both events. She was the co-event winner on the vault, producing a score of 9.900.
Minnesota led the way the entirety of the meet with its best team score of the evening on their final event, the balance beam.
The Maroon and Gold kicked off their second conference competition with a 49.125 on the uneven bars. The Gophers were led by Cierra Tomson who scored a 9.875 on the first event of the evening. Madeline Hanley (9.850) as well as Jenny Covers and Mable (9.825) rounding out the top three for the Maroon and Gold.
Minnesota continued the meet with a strong showing on vault, tallying a team score of 49.225. Mable led the way for the Gophers tallying a 9.900 on the apparatus. Bailey Gardner and Tomson were close behind with individual scores of 9.850 each.
The Maroon and Gold continued to dominate by posting an event total of 49.125 on the floor exercise led by Mable's 9.925. Rachel Haines and C. Gardner both added 9.825's to the Gopher final score.
Minnesota capped off its first conference win of the season with a team score of 49.400 on beam, their highest team score of the competition. The event marked the first time that three Gophers had recorded 9.9's or above in a competition this season. Mable earned Minnesota's top score with a 9.925 while Hanley and Haines tallied 9.900's each en route to the Gophers 48.400 mark.
After collecting three event titles and the all-around crown, Mable now leads the Maroon and Gold with four consecutive all-around crowns and nine individual event titles on the season. Covers earned third place in the all-around competition with a score of 39.225.
