Senior Cierra Tomson had an impressive afternoon for the Gophers as she claimed the top spot on the uneven bars with a score of 9.825.
The floor exercise proved to be the team's strongest event of the afternoon. Mable (9.925), Rachel Haines (9.775), Tomson (9.775) and freshman Abbey DeMuse (9.750) rounded out the top three. The Gophers finished floor exercise with an impressive team score of 48.925.
The event debuted four of the five Minnesota freshman including strong performances from Frisco, Texas native Ciara Gardner who placed third in the all-around and DeMuse who finished in a tie for second place on the bars (9.750) and fourth on floor (9.750).
No. 17 Minnesota (GymInfo) will open the regular season next Saturday evening at the Sports Pavilion. MINNEAPOLIS (GopherSports.com) -- The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team showcased their 2015 routines at the annual Intrasquad meet Saturday afternoon at the Sports Pavilion. Minnesota split into two teams, Maroon and Gold, but competed for one combined score. By tallying the top five scores for each event, a simulated meet score was produced and the Gophers finished Saturday's meet with a combined team score of 195.025.
Junior All-American and Aurora, Colo. native, Lindsay Mable led the way for the Maroon and Gold, winning three events during Saturday's exhibition. She tallied a 9.900 on vault, 9.850 on beam and 9.925 on floor to win the all-around competition with a final score of 39.350. Mable placed fourth on the uneven bars tallying a 9.675.
