Gophers Top Field on Day 1 of GT Invite

Matt Barnard and Yu Zhou led Minnesota to golden finishes on night one of the 2015 Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta. Barnard and Zhou were joined by five other Gophers in finals, the most of any university competing at the event.
Barnard turned in 407.15 points in the men's 3-meter competition for first place. Dylan Zoe placed fourth with a score of 362.85, while fellow senior Manny Pollard recorded a seventh-place mark (334.65). Rookie Alan LeBlang also made his way into finals, taking ninth with a 325.15.
Zhou captured first in the women's 1-meter diving finals, finishing with a total of 330.40 points. Lexi Tenenbaum placed fifth with a 291.25 and was followed by veteran teammate Jessica Ramberg, who posted a 290.20 for sixth.
During the men's 3-meter diving prelims, sophomore Daniel Monaghan turned in a score of for 26th place (210.90). Freshman Mariam Khamis placed 16th in the 1-meter preliminary diving rounds with a 255.90. Liz Click finished 22nd (240.20), while Morgan Justus placed 34th in the field (211.50). Sophomore Beth Etterman had a 198.55.
Minnesota will be back at it with women's 3-meter and men's 1-meter diving set to be contested on Friday, Nov. 20. The Gophers will then compete in platform diving on Saturday, Nov. 21.
