Prelims Results
The 2015 Women's Swimming and Diving Big Ten Championships continued this morning with preliminary heats of the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, as well as three-meter diving.
Seeded first in tonight's 400 IM Championship final is freshman Brooke Zeiger. Zeiger posted a 4:08.34 in this morning's prelims. Joining her in the Championship final is Samantha Harding, who finished with a 4:14.22 and is currently seeded eighth.
Sophomore Breanne Siwicki will move on to tonight's B final of the 400 IM after finishing with a 4:16.46 at prelims.
Christie Clarke finished with a time of 4:34.33 to finish 46th in the 400 IM.
Tonight's 100 fly Championship final will be stacked with three Golden Gophers. Rebecca Weiland is currently seeded third after a 52.49 this morning. Tori Simenec had a 52.79 (seeded fifth), while freshman Danielle Nack posted a 53.09 (seeded seventh), rounding out the top eight.
Senior Devin Ste. Marie finished with a time of 53.92 to qualify for tonight's B final of the 100 fly.
Blake Zeiger will head to the 100 fly C final after racing a 54.84 this morning.
Sophomore Allison Schumacher places 30th in the 100 fly, finishing with a time of 55.16. Ellen Bloom finished with a 56.28 for 52nd, followed by teammate Chloe Portela for 53rd with a 56.28.
Representing Minnesota in tonight's 200 freestyle Championship final will be senior Jessica Plant. Plant finished with a time of 1:45.86 and is seeded fourth heading into finals.
Tori Simenec will return to the B final of the 200 free, finishing this morning's prelims with a time of 1:46.67. Kiera Janzen will join her after racing a 1:46.75.
Junior Lauren Votava will head to the C final of the 200 freestyle. Votava had a 1:47.89, Maddie Hoch will join her after this morning's swim of 1:48.55.
Freshman Isabel Wyer places 28th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.94. Brooke Lorentzen went 1:50.26 for 45th place. Sophomore Abigail Raatz finished 61st (1:51.68).
Kierra Smith will be seeded first in tonight's 100 breaststroke Championship final after racing a 59.55 during prelims. Smith is the defending Big Ten Champion in the event.
Senior Heidi Busack will head to the B final of the 100 breast. Busack had a 1:02.1s s5 and is seeded 15th.
Freshman Bridgette Grobe placed 47th in the 100 breast, finishing with a time of 1:06.36.
In the 100 backstroke, Katelyn Holmquist finished 35th with a time of 55.97. Fellow sophomore Ellen Bloom placed 42nd with a time of 56.63. Senior Chloe Portela finishes with a time of 58.25 for 53rd place.
Yu Zhou, Shelly, will head to the Championship final of three-meter diving after scoring 350.95 points. Teammate Katy Etterman will join her tonight after scoring 311.85 points. The two Gophers are currently seeded third and eighth respectively.
Lexi Tenenbaum placed tenth in prelims with a score of 305.30, and is currently competing in the consolation final of the three-meter.
Jessica Ramberg finishes 22nd on the three-meter, she totaled 258.70 points.
