Gophers Cap Undefeated Weekend

MINNEAPOLIS - The No. 19 University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team concluded a two-meet weekend with a victory at its annual Always Dreaming Best of Minnesota Invitational on Sunday afternoon at the Sports Pavilion. With the win, the Gophers went undefeated on the weekend with a perfect 4-0 finish.
The Golden Gophers earned a final team score of 195.325 outdistancing Winona State (186.050), Hamline (184.400) and Gustavus Adolphus (180.200).
The Gophers swept the competition for the second consecutive meet recording team scores of 49.225 on vault, 49.075 on uneven bars, 47.750 on balance beam and a 49.275 on floor exercise while a Gopher gymnast won each of the four individual event titles.
Lindsay Mable continued her winning streak by collecting her ninth consecutive all-around crown as she turned in scores of 9.925 on vault, 9.850 on bars, 9.725 on beam and finished the afternoon with a 9.925 on floor exercise. Mable collected three event titles on the evening to bring her season total to 22. She is now three event titles away from surpassing her season-record of 25 which she set last season.
Sophomore Rachel Haines earned her first event title of the season as she recorded a 9.750 on the balance beam to pace the competition while junior Madie Hanley joined Lindsay Mable atop the podium on uneven bars as she also recorded a 9.850 on the apparatus.
Minnesota will be back at the Sports Pavilion next Saturday for the final regular season meet of the 2015 season. The Golden Gophers will host New Hampshire as they celebrate Minnesota's senior class comprised of Jenny Covers and Cierra Tomson. The meet begins at 6 p.m. and will be streamed live on BTN Plus.
