TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 25-ranked Minnesota tennis team dropped its final non-conference match Wednesday afternoon, falling to 21st-ranked South Florida, 4-3, at the USF Varsity Tennis Complex in Tampa, Fla. The loss snapped a three-match winning streak for the Gophers, who fell to 10-5.

On the season, Minnesota finished with a 9-5 record in non-league competition and now has a 5-5 ledger versus ranked opponents.

To begin the match, USF became the third team all season to defeat the Gophers in the doubles competition. Roberto Cid and Ignacio Gonzalez-Muniz won at No. 3 and No. 37-ranked Oliver Pramming and Justin Roberts defeated No. 66 Mathieu Froment and Jack Hamburg at No. 1 to earn the day's first team point. The score of each match was 6-2.

Pramming came up big for the Bulls again in singles, pushing his team's lead to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 win at the third position. Matic Spec then got Minnesota on the board with a victory in straight sets at No. 4, but South Florida clinched the win with triumphs by Sasha Gozun and 21st-ranked Roberto Cid at the second and first spots, respectively.

To conclude the day, Felix Corwin rallied from a one-set deficit for a super tiebreaker win at No. 5 and Froment dispatched Vadym Kalyuzhnyy 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 1-0 (10-5) in the sixth flight.

Spec and Corwin maintained their team lead in singles victories in 2014-15 with 21 apiece.

The Gophers play twice this weekend as Big Ten play resumes. No. 45 Iowa pays a visit to the Baseline Tennis Center Friday at 6 p.m. The Maroon and Gold then travels to No. 74 Nebraska Sunday for a noon match.
