Gophers Wrap Competition in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of Minnesota women's rowing team sent a pair of novice boats to compete in the San Diego Crew Classic on Mission Bay in San Diego, Calif., over the weekend, with the Gophers' A boat placing fourth in the Women's Collegiate Novice Grand Final with a time of 7:31.72 Sunday morning.
The A boat of coxswain Abbey Hauser, Maura Dahl, Mary Fischer, Kortney Luedloff, Lauren Pieczykolan, Jenna Namyst, Kristina Swanson, Liz Palmi and Maggie Bieber advanced to the grand final after finishing in third place behind UCLA and San Diego Saturday morning with a time of 7:42.28. The Gophers finished ahead of Miami, Sacramento State, SMU, UC San Diego and Minnesota's B boat, who finished eighth in 8:19.18.
The B boat of coxswain Abi Lundstrom, Miranda Forrestj, Sophie Zabee, Emily Appold, Kalley McMenomy, Allison Sterneman, Emily Engelbrecht-Wiggans, Bailey Larsen and Kristen Cox placed seventh in the grand final with a time of 7:56.10.
The Gophers are back in action April 4 when they participate in the Oregon State Classic.
