Gophers Set for ASU Thunderbird Invite

A few days after returning from the Goodwin, the Golden Gophers are off to the 43rd annual ASU Thunderbird Invitational in Tempe, Ariz. The 54-hole tournament runs April 3-4, with two rounds on the first day.
The travel squad: Jose Mendez, Jon DuToit, Rúnar Arnórsson, Riley Johnson, Charlie Duensing and Tyler Lowenstein are making the trip for the Gophers. DuToit led the team with a 24th-place finish at Stanford and was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week.
The field: Minnesota will compete against host Arizona State, Arizona, Baylor, UC Davis, Iowa, Iowa State, Nevada, Oregon State, Pepperdine, San Diego State, San Diego, Washington State and Wyoming. The Sun Devils won their tournament last year, with Jon Rahm capturing medalist honors with a 21-under score.
The course: Karsten Golf Course has a par of 70 and plays at 6,971 yards.Â
