Gophers Sweep Rutgers in Double Dual

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The University of Minnesota women's rowing team swept Rutgers in the afternoon session of the Big Ten Double Dual at Griggs Reservoir on the Scioto River Saturday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio. The Gophers' No. 19 First Varsity Eight highlighted the session with a nearly 12-second victory over the Scarlet Knights with a time of 6:18.91 to close the competition.
The 2V8 clocked in almost 17 seconds ahead of Rutgers in a time of 6:29.35, while the 1V4 finished over 37 second ahead of the Scarlet Knights with a time of 6:51.19. Minnesota's 2V4 posted a time of 7:06.42 to claim a nearly 48-second win and the 1N8 opened the afternoon session with a nearly 29 second win with a time of 6:38.38.
In the morning session, the Gophers took on two-time defending NCAA Champion and host Ohio State, with the No. 19 1V8 finishing 16.47 seconds behind the No. 1-ranked Buckeyes. The Gophers' 2V4 posted its closest finish to Ohio State, as it crossed just 5.03 behind the hosts.
The Maroon and Gold is back in action next weekend when it takes part in the Clemson Invite in Clemson, S.C.
