Toledo Nabs Second-Straight Big Ten Award

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Minnesota men's tennis senior Leandro Toledo was named the Big Ten Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. The honor is the sixth of the Hamburg, Germany-native's career and his second in a row.
The accolade is the third of its kind this season for the 2014 All-American. No other player in the conference has multiple Big Ten Athlete of the Week Awards in 2015.
For the third-straight week, Toledo went 4-0 at the top singles position and No. 2 doubles position. He has now won eight-straight singles matches and six-consecutive doubles matches. He upped his spring records to 17-5 in singles and 17-1 in doubles. Both of his singles victories this week both came in straight sets. The Gophers went on to defeat both Michigan and Michigan State to improve to 8-1 in Big Ten play and 17-6 overall.
With 95 singles win in his illustrious collegiate career, Toledo ranks 11th in program history.
No. 33 Minnesota will close out its regular season with home matches against No. 3-ranked Big Ten leader Illinois Friday and No. 27 Northwestern Sunday.
