Future Freshman: Bowe Becker

With another swimming and diving season wrapped, it's time to start introducing the large and talented class of freshmen that will join us at the University of Minnesota this fall. Each Friday we will profile a future freshman. We start this week welcoming Bowe Becker from Las Vegas, Nevada. Becker is a sprint freestyle swimmer, and his favorite race is the 50 free. Becker will join the Gophers from Faith Lutheran high school and club team Sandpipers of Nevada.Â
GopherSports: Why did you choose the University of Minnesota?
Bowe Becker: I chose the University of Minnesota for several reasons. First I love the big campus and how many people go to the school. Second I love the coaches because I know they are going to bring me to the next level in swimming. Also I grew up in Las Vegas almost my whole life so I wanted to try some place new and experience a whole different type of climate.
GS: What are you looking forward to the most with starting your collegiate career as a Golden Gopher?Â
BB: I am excited in meeting new people and getting introduced to a whole different style of training for my sprinter type of events.Â
GS: Thus far, what has been your best or most proud swimming memory?
BB: My favorite memory so far was when my club team won CA/NV Sectionals swim meet last December. We all worked so hard for it and I am proud to be part of the team.
GS: What do you like to do for fun outside of the pool?
BB: I love to hang out with my friends and really just go out and adventure and discover new things.
GS: How do you think you will contribute to the Gopher swimming and diving program?Â
BB: I love to be a part of my team and just bring people closer together. But I think I can help push a lot of my fellow teammates to get better as well as have them push me to get better.
GS: What else do you want to share with the Gopher Family?
BB: I chose this college because they are going to take me the biggest places I can go. Go Gophers!!
