Mable Caps Junior Campaign

FORT WORTH, Texas - Junior Lindsay Mable capped her junior campaign this weekend as the 2015 women's gymnastics season came to a close at the NCAA Championships held in Fort Worth, Texas. Mable was the lone Gopher to represent the University of Minnesota at the national championships this season.Â
The Aurora, Colo. native competed in the first semifinal held on Friday afternoon and earned scores of 9.850 (vault), 9.775 (uneven bars), 9.750 (balance beam) and 9.875 (floor exercise) to combine for a total all-around score of 39.250. Mable's highest finish overall was on floor exercise where she ended the competition in a five-way tie for 11th place. Mable finshed in ninth overall in the all-around competition during the first semifinal.Â
With her placements, the Colorado Gymnastics Institute alumna did not advance to the Individual Event Finals held on Sunday. This is the first time in Mable's career at the University of Minnesota that she did not advance to the final day of competition.Â
In 2015, Mable earned 31 individual event wins and 11 all-around crowns. She was named the 2015 Big Ten Gymnast of the Year as well as the NACGC/W Northe Central Region Gymnast of the Year for the second consecutive year. The junior earned regular season all-america accolades on balance beam (first), vault (second), floor exercise (second) and in the all-around (first).Â
Mable earned Big Ten Gymnast of the Week laurels six times over the course of the season and was the top-ranked all-around gymnast in the country for two consecutive weeks in February. On Feb. 14, Mable broke her own program-record all-around score by posting a 39.675 against Nebraska in front of a home crowd at the Sports Pavilion. Last week,Mable was named to the First Team All-Big Ten for the third time in her storied career. The Big Ten Gymnast of the Year honor marked the seventh league Gymnast of the Year honor for the Golden Gophers and the first since Gopher great Laura Johnson earned the coveted award in 2006.
The weekend marked the end of the 2015 collegiate gymnastics season as Florida secured their third consecutive national championship on Saturday evening.Â
