Gophers Win Five Titles at Hamline

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Led by Devin Stanford, who won both the hammer throw and the discus, the Golden Gopher women's track & field team took home five event titles at the Hamline Twilight meet at Klas Field Wednesday evening.
Stanford won the hammer throw with her second-best mark of the season at 61.10m. Lyndsey Thorpe threw a season-best 57.69m, and Ke-ke Burks posted a career-best throw of 56.74m to round out the top three. With her new career-best mark, Burks moved into 10th among all-time Gopher hammer throwers. Agnes Esser was fifth with a season-best mark of 50.48m as well.
Stanford also led a charge of Gophers in the discus with her first-place throw of 51.43m. Esser was second at 50.57m, followed by Angie Guenther (44.42m) and Megan Petermann (44.19m) with season-best throws for fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Minnesota also took home titles in the shot put and the high jump. Kailee Kamps won the shot (13.41m), whileAllie Heifort finished third (13.13m). The Gophers took the top two spots in the high jump as Heta Tuuri won (1.67m) and Katerina Gasteratou was second with an outdoor collegiate-best jump of 1.64m.
The Gophers' lone title on the track came in the 400m hurdles where Frances Conlin won in 1:05.32.
Minnesota had three pole vaulters secure top-five finishes as well. Cami Gilson cleared a season-best 3.96m for second place, followed by Katie Murgic at 3.81m for third. Allie Funk cleared an outdoor career-best 3.51m for fifth place as well.
Several Gophers competed unattached at the Hamline Twilight as Kiley Sabin (third in discus, 10th in hammer), Temi Ogunrinde (sixth in hammer), Macy Narr (sixth in pole vault), Lindsey Smits (second in 400m hurdles) and Bolade Jinadu (third in 100m) also competed Wednesday.
A busy week continues for the Gophers as the team is split at three meets this weekend. Minnesota heads to the Drake Relays, UC San Diego Triton Invitational and Macalester's Janis Rider Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
