Gophers Compete at Macalester Invite

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Golden Gophers secured 10 top-10 finishes as members of the Minnesota women's track & field team competed at the Janis Rider Invitational hosted by Macalester College Saturday afternoon.
Minnesota claimed four of the top 10 places in the 800-meter run led by Andie Zeman in third place in 2:18.17. Tess Wasowicz (2:19.71) and Hannah Trasser (2:22.94) finished sixth and seventh in their first outdoor collegiate 800m races, and Chelsea Pettit took 10th in 2:24.00 in her first outdoor 800m of the season.
Led by Sarah Klecker's fifth-place showing in 10:36.87, three Gophers placed in the top eight in the 3,000-meter run. Marnie Kinnaird (10:38.22) and Rebecca Rethwisch (10:58.17) were sixth and eighth, respectively.
In the 400-meter run, Natalie Broome was sixth and Anne Haakenstad was seventh. The Gophers also had the runner-up 4x400-meter relay team as Zeman, Haakenstad, Wasowicz and Pettit ran 4:05.08.
Several Gophers competed unattached at the Janis Rider Invitational as well. Delaney Sinnen posted the fastest time in the 1,500-meter run at 4:46.27, and Bolade Jinadu had the second-fastest time in the 400m (59.16). Patty O'Brien (10:09.33), Bailey Ness (10:14.06), Emily Castanias (10:17.56) and Courtney Alama (10:19.73) recorded the top four times in the 3,000m as well.
Kimberly Golding led the way in the 100m hurdles, and Lindsey Smits clocked a 1:05.76 for the top 400m hurdles performance of the day.
The Gophers also competed at the Drake Relays and the UC San Diego Triton Invitational this weekend.
