`U' Closes Out Weekend in Stanford

Stanford, Calif. (GopherSports.com) -- The University of Minnesota men's track & field program closed out the weekend on Saturday at the 2015 Stanford Invitational.
Brad Neumann, who finished second in his 100-meter heat on Friday but did not qualify for the final, bounced back for a second-place finish in the 200 meters on Saturday. Neumann won his heat with a time of 21.42.
Meanwhile, Mitch Hechsel, who finished 10th overall in the 400 meters on Friday and was one of three Gophers in the top 10 (Nate Roese finished fourth, Goaner Deng finished eighth) added another top-10 finish on Saturday impressive showing on Saturday. Hechsel won his 800-meter heat with a time of 1:50.43. Jeffrey Cottrell came in ninth in the heat at 1:53.87. Bradley Johnson paced all Gophers in the event with a 1:49.97 to finish third in his heat while Deng clocked a 1:51.61 to finish seventh.
The Gophers 4x400 meter relay team finished third overall, crossing the finish line at 3:11.62 while Ben Holcomb finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdle finals with a time of 14.75.
Meanwhile, the Gophers also posted several top finishes at the 2015 Ashton May Invitational at UW-La Crosse on Friday. Danny Schiller and Nick Bachinski finished first and second, respectively, in the high jump -- both hitting 2.03 meters (6-08.00 ft.). Gemechu Godi finished second in the 100-meter dash at 10.89 while Tony Joyer came in fifth in the 800-meter run at 1:57.58.
Competing unattached at the meet, Matthew Rosen won the 800 meters at 1:54.69 while Obsa Ali finished fifth in the 1,500 meters at 3:58.48.
