Mendez Tied for 48th at NCAA Regional

After an even-par 72 on Thursday, Jose Mendez carded a 78 today at the NCAA Regional in Bremerton, Wash. The Gophers sophomore is tied for 48th through 36 holes at Gold Mountain Golf Club's Olympic Course.
Mendez birdied the 14th, but had bogeyed seven holes previously in the day. He had entered the second round tied for 22nd.
TCU (-12) holds a one-shot lead over UAB in the team competition. Washington's Cheng-Tsung Pan moved into first individually after a 69 and is 8 under for the tournament.
The third and final round of NCAA Regional play tees off Saturday morning. The top individual not on one of the five advancing teams will advance to the NCAA Championships.
