Gophers to Hold Intrasquad Meet Friday

MINNEAPOLIS - The No. 27 Golden Gopher women's cross country team opens its 2015 season by hosting its annual Intrasquad Meet this Friday. The 5K race is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Les Bolstad Course in Falcon Heights, Minn.
An exhibition race, the meet gives the Gophers a chance to get reacquainted with their home course, and many of Minnesota's freshmen have the opportunity to race at Les Bolstad Course for the first time. The Gophers will split into Maroon, Gold, and Black teams led by the squad's five captains, Liz Berkholtz, Haley Johnson, Taylor Mikkalson, Kate Shelerud, and Kaila Urick.
Parking will be available in the Les Bolstad Golf Course main parking lot and driving range lot, and admission is free.
Next Friday, the Gophers officially begin their 2015 campaign as the Oz Memorial marks the official start of the season. Minnesota will host Drake, Iowa State, and South Dakota State in its season-opening 6K race at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11 at Les Bolstad Course. The Gopher men's cross country team kicks off the Oz Memorial at 6 p.m. before the women's race.
