Four Gophers ââ'¬" conveniently paired off as the team's top-two 133-pounders (Mitch McKee and Sam Brancale) and the Pfarr brothers (Brett Pfarr and Chris Pfarr) ââ'¬" went undefeated at last Sunday's Journeymen/Asics Collegiate Classic in Troy, N.Y., earning titles in each of their respective groups in the round-robin tournament.
In addition to the unblemished efforts from this quartet, two ranked Gophers ââ'¬" Nick Wanzek at 174 pounds and Michael Kroells at heavyweight ââ'¬" each finished their in their pools with one-loss performances. Both of those losses were to higher-ranked wrestlers.
In all, 13 Gophers competed at Hudson Valley Community College, wrestling a total of 40 matches.
