Gophers Announce 2017 T&F Slate

2017 Gopher Track & Field Schedule
MINNEAPOLIS (GopherSports.com) - A trio of home meets highlights a competitive schedule for the University of Minnesota men's track & field program as the Gophers unveiled their 2017 schedule on Monday.
The Maroon & Gold will also head to a number of nationally renowned meets at Iowa State, Arizona State, UCLA, Stanford and Drake over the course of this year's campaign in addition to Big Ten and NCAA championship events.
The Minnesota Open kicks off the home slate on Saturday, Jan. 14 followed by the Jack Johnson Classic, Jan. 27-28, and the Snowshoe Invitational on Friday, Feb. 17. All three home meets will be held at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse.
In between home meets, the Gophers will look to capture their third-straight dual against Wisconsin in Madison on Saturday, Jan. 21 before competing at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Feb. 10-11.
The 2016 Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held in Geneva, Ohio on Feb. 24-25, followed by the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, March 10-11, in College Station, Texas.
The outdoor campaign then kicks off with the Baldy Castillo Invitational, March 17-18, in Phoenix Ariz. Minnesota has had tremendous success at the outdoor season opener including setting the school hammer throw record at the event two years in a row.
The Maroon & Gold follow up the outdoor opener at the Bruin Legends of Track & Field Invitational, hosted by UCLA, March 31-April 1 in Los Angeles. The Gophers make another trip to California later in the month with the Cardinal Classic in Palo Alto on April 21-22.
Minnesota closes out the month of April with the Drake Relays, April 26-29, in Des Moines, Iowa. The Gophers have claimed four 4x800 meter relay titles in the last six years and will attempt to add to the school's trophy case at one of the nation's top relay meets in 2017.
Penn State hosts the 2017 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships, May 12-14, while NCAA action begins May 25-27 with first round action in Austin, Texas. The 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships are scheduled for June 7-10 in Eugene, Ore.
