Gophers Compete in Heptathlon Day One

AZUSA, Calif. - The Gopher heptathletes kicked off competition at the Mt. SAC Relays/California Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University on Wednesday. Jess Lehman is in 12th place in the Mt. SAC Relays heptathlon while Alex Beckman, Sofie Albrechtsen, Audra Winter, and Amanda Beckman are competing in the California Invitational heptathlon.
Through four events, Lehman is in 12th place of 21 competitors in the Mt. SAC Relays heptathlon with 3,411 points. She tied for fifth in high jump with a leap of 1.74m and also earned a top-10 finish in the shot put in ninth (12.60m). Lehman posted times of 14. 36 in the 100m hurdles and 25.08 in the 200m.
In the California Invitational heptathlon, Alex Beckman and Albrechtsen are both among the top 10 through four events as Beckman is seventh with 3,300 points and Albrechtsen is ninth with 3,250 points. Winter is in 15th (3,103), and Amanda Beckman is 25th in a field of 52 competitors with 2,899 points.
Alex Beckman posted a career-best mark in the shot put, where she placed sixth with a throw of 12.62m. She also finished in the top 10 with a seventh-place finish in the 200m (25.07 seconds) and tying for eighth in the 100m hurdles (14.48 seconds). She tied for 13th in high jump as well (1.66m).
Albrechtsen has recorded collegiate personal bests in each event so far, while earning three top-10 finishes. She tied for sixth in high jump (1.72m), placed eighth in shot put (12.37m), and took ninth in the 200m (25.17 seconds) along with clocking a time of 15.21 in the 100m hurdles.
Winter's highest finish so far is tying for 13th in the high jump at 1.66m while Amanda Beckman tied her career-best with a jump of 1.60m to tie for 25th in the high jump.
The Gophers conclude the heptathlon on Thursday.
