STANFORD, Calif. (GopherSports.com) - Sean Donnelly picked up his second title in as many competitions for the University of Minnesota men's track & field program and the 4x400 meter relay squad posted the fastest time in the Big Ten this year as the Gophers closed out the Stanford Invitational on Saturday. Minnesota ended the two-day event with a total of 18 top-10 individual finishes.

Donnelly, who shattered the school hammer throw record two weeks ago and leads the NCAA this season, added his second-straight title in the event with a throw of 69.68 meters (228-07 ft.) on Saturday.

The Gophers added a second title to close out the meet as the 4x400 meter relay team of Jack Wellenstein, Nate Roese, Goaner Deng and Brad Neumann, clocked a 3:07.54 to take home top honors. The time stands as the best in the Big Ten this year as well as the seventh best time in the nation.

Minnesota also added noteworthy performances from Deng with a runner-up finish in the 800 meters at 1:49.37 while Luke Johnson (shot put, 18.03 meters, 59-02.00 ft.) and Jordan Charles (triple jump, 14.74 meters, 48-04.50 ft.) each added a third-place showing for the Gophers.

"We had a complete team performance this weekend, and that's what we need in big meets like this. We had a lot of guys contributing, and that was great to see from our point of view," Minnesota Director of Men's Track & Field and Cross Country Steve Plasencia said. "It was great to see another standout performance from Sean Donnelly, and then we ended the meet on a high note with a terrific performance by our 4-by-4 relay team."

Additional top-10 performances came from Neumann (fifth in the 200 meter final at 21.42), Mac Reidy (eighth in the hammer throw at 57.03 meters, 187-01 ft.), Viktor Stelter (10th in the hammer throw at 56.20 meters, 184-04 ft.) and Shane Streich (10th in the 800 meters at 1:50.81).

Minnesota closes out the weekend on Sunday at the Hamline Invitational in St. Paul.
