DES MOINES, Iowa (GopherSports.com) - The University of Minnesota men's track & field program opened the 107th Drake Relays with a fourth-place showing in the 4x1,600 meter relay on Thursday night at Drake Stadium.

The group of Christian Skaret, Cole O'Brien, Aaron Bartnik and Obsa Ali clocked a 16:41.25 in the first relay competition of the meet, staying among the frontrunners for the length of the race.

Minnesota closed out the night with a pair of runners in the 5,000 meters. Senior captain Adam Zutz ran an outdoor personal record of 14:27.89 to finish 16th in his first 5,000 meter performance of the season while Eric Colvin was two spots back in 18th with a time of 14:36.34.

Meanwhile at Macalester's Bolstorff Twilight, Matt Welch (3:57.57) and Charlie Lawrence (4:04.02) paced the 1,500 meters, finishing first and second, respectively. Unattached freshman Evan Ferlic finished seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.96.
