Rousemiller, Tharaldsen Set for USATF Junior Meet

MINNESOTA (GopherSports.com) - Connor Rousemiller and Jonathan Tharaldsen - both freshman throwers for the University of Minnesota men's track & field program -- will compete at the 2016 USATF Junior Outdoor Championships this weekend in Clovis, Calif.
The 2016 USATF Junior Outdoor Championships will run June 24-26 at Buchanan High School's Veteran's Memorial Stadium. The meet will be live streamed on USATF.TV with a USATF.TV +PLUS subscription.
Rousemiller will compete in the hammer throw (Friday, June 24 at 5:30 p.m. CT) while Tharaldsen will compete in the shot put (Saturday, June 25 at 5:00 p.m. CT). Both student-athletes redshirted the 2016 season while competing in multiple events as unattached throwers.
A native of Lakeville, Minn., Rousemiller captured a pair of hammer throw titles this year, winning at the Carleton Relays and the Tom Cat Twilight. He qualified for the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships with his performance of 55.40 meters (181-09.00 ft.) at the Tommie Twilight.
A native of Bismarck, N.D., Tharaldsen picked up four shot put wins during the 2016 campaign, winning at the Gene Glader Classic, the Carleton Relays, the Hamline Invite (where he also won the discus competition) and the NDSU Bison Tune-Up. His mark of 17.31 meters (56-09.50 ft.) at the Carleton Relays punched his ticket to the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships.
