Abda Moves on to 800 Finals

EUGENE, Ore. (GopherSports.com) -- For the second time in as many days, University of Minnesota men's track & field alum Harun Abda advanced in the 800 meters at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials at Hayward Fied.

The 13-time All-American -- the most decorated man in program history -- ran 1:46.28 in Saturday's 800 meter semifinals to move on to the finals where the Fridley, Minn., native will have a chance to make the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team. Abda runs on Monday, July 4 at 7:51 p.m. CT (Coverage on NBCSN and streamed here).

Meanwhile, All-American alum Zach Siegmeier failed to advance in the pole vault competition.

Also in action this week for the Gophers, All-American senior Sean Donnelly competes in the hammer throw on Wednesday, July 6 at 7 p.m. CT while All-American alum Ben Blankenship starts the 1,500 meters on Thursday, July 7 at 9:21 p.m. CT.
