Records Fall at US Swim Trials

David Plummer's journey to the Olympics has been well documented, but he was not the only swimmer with Golden Gopher ties to compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Four other current or former Minnesota swimmers advanced as far as semifinals, and two current Gophers broke school records.
Returning junior Brooke Zeiger lowered her own school record times in both the 200- and 400-meter individual medley races. She broke her own record in the 200 IM prelims with a 2:15.50 and shaved more than a second off that time with a 2:14.41 as she finished 12th in the semis.
Returning sophomore Bowe Becker broke the program record with a 22.31 in the 50 freestyle as he finished 12th in semis. Former Gopher Kyler Van Swol clocked in at 53.14 in the 100 butterfly semifinals, finishing 10th.
