SIWICKI SELECTED FOR WORLDS
Senior Breanne Siwicki was officially invited to represent Canada in open water at next summer's FINA World Championships. She was the third Canadian finisher at July 28's open water 10k at Lac St. Jean. Siwicki will swim in the 25k at Worlds.
BECKER SHINES AT U.S. OPEN
A contingent of Minnesota swimmers competed at the U.S. Open at their own Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center, highlighted by a Bowe Becker gold medal. The sophomore broke the school long course record in the 50-meter freestyle with a winning time of 22.23.
Junior Conner McHugh took sixth in the 100 breaststroke, senior Logan Redondo was seventh in the 1,500 freestyle and junior Brooke Zeiger was eighth in the 400 individual medley.
MALY SECOND AT NATIONALS
Senior Jakub Maly took second place at Austria's open water nationals. Normally a breaststroke and IM competitor, he still scored silver in the 5K race.
POON COMPETES AT FUTURES
Sophomore Brian Poon competed at the Futures Championships in College Park, Md. He had multiple finals session swims. Poon placed fourth in the 200-meter IM, 14th in the 100 breaststroke and 20th in the 200 freestyle.
