SOUTH BEND, IND. - A battle between Top-10 ranked Big Ten rivals came down to a fluky power-play goal as No. 4 Notre Dame took a 1-0 contest over the No. 6 Gopher Hockey program on Friday night at Compton Family Ice Arena.

Notre Dame (11-3-1 overall, 5-0-0-0 Big Ten) tallied the game's only goal when Andrew Oglevie put a shot from the point off a Gophers defenseman and over Eric Schierhorn at 1:43 of the second period.

Minnesota (9-5-1, 3-3-1-1) outshot the Fighting Irish 44-23 on the night - the program's second-highest shot total of the season after putting 50 on net last Saturday against Harvard. But the Gophers were unable to find a way past Notre Dame goalie Cale Morris, who made 44 saves on the night for the shutout victory.

Eric Schierhorn made 22 saves in net for the Maroon & Gold. The Gophers were 2-for-3 on the penalty kill and 0-for-4 on the power play. Leon Bristedt had a game-high seven shots on goal for Minnesota.

Minnesota and Notre Dame close out this weekend's Big Ten series on Saturday night at 7 p.m. ET. Single-game tickets, season tickets and flexible Pick-Your-Packs are currently available at GopherSports.com, by calling 1-800-U-Gopher or by stopping by the ticket office at 3M Arena at Mariucci.
