Starksville, Miss. - The Minnesota Golden Gophers were unable to overcome Mississippi State on the road, falling 5-2.
To begin the match, Caitlyn Merzbacher and Mehvish Safdar were downed by Mississippi's No. 44 ranked duo of Jasmine Lee and Lisa Marie Rioux, 6-0.
Annemarie Emme and Camila Vargas Gomez defeat Jennifer Brown and Khrystyna Vozniak at spot No. 3, 6-2, extending their dual record to 5-1.
Caroline Ryba and Cammy Frei capped off doubles play clinching the doubles point, overpowering Madison Harrison and Sara Lizariturry, 6-3.
Singles play began with Ryba falling to Mississippi's No. 8 ranked Lee, 6-4, 6-0, at spot No. 1, cutting Maroon and Gold's advantage.
Next Emme dropped both sets to Anastasia Rentouli, 6-3, 6-4.
Senior Maja Vujic won her second match of dual play over Jennifer Brown at spot No. 6, 6-2, 6-3.
Barbara Mancera dropped her first set, 6-0, and fought hard to come back in the second unsuccessfully, 7-6 (12).
Harrison overpowered Tina Kreinis at spot No. 2, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, to clinch the win for the Bulldogs.
Vargas Gomez finished her match out and was bested by Lizariturry at spot No. 5, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-4.
