No. 25 Gophers Set to Host No. 8 Oklahoma State

Minneapolis, Minn. - The No. 25 ranked University of Minnesota men's tennis team continues their five-match homestand at Baseline Tennis Center this weekend with a 6 p.m. match on Friday night against No. 8 Oklahoma State.
The Gophers are coming off two victories last weekend against Middle Tennessee State and Oregon, improving to a 9-1 start. On Friday night, Minnesota took down the Blue Raiders 6-1, which gave Coach Young his 200th career win.
On Sunday, the Maroon & Gold handed Oregon their second loss of the season. Felix Corwin got the Gophers on the board with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over No. 124 nationally ranked Simon Stevens. Marino Alpeza earned his sixth win of the year as he took down Ethan Young-Smith by a score of 6-2, 6-2.
Tied at two points each, wins from Josip Krstanovic and Stefan Milicevic clinched the ninth win of the season for the Gophers. Freshman Eli Ogilvy would then come back to win his match and stay undefeated on the year, which gave Minnesota a 5-2 victory.
Friday's match against Oklahoma State will be the first against a ranked opponent, and the first where the Gophers are ranked. Minnesota is looking for their tenth win of the year, and carry a 2-7 all-time record against the Cowboys.
The homestand will continue the following weekend as the Gophers host the University of Washington next Friday, followed by Drake University on Sunday, March 5th.
Gophers in the Rankings
The Gophers continued to see players in the rankings in both singles and doubles, while ranked No. 25 as a team. Matic Spec and Corwin are now ranked No. 32 by the ITA National Tennis Rankings. Spec is also ranked No. 68 for singles, while Milicevic comes in an No. 117.
About Oklahoma State
The Cowboys carry a record of 8-3 on the year, and are currently on a two-match losing streak. Last weekend at the ITA National Indoors Championship, OSU beat No. 7 Northwestern before losing to No. 3 Ohio State, and No. 11 Texas. Two notable wins for the Cowboys came in late January, when they took down No. 22 Columbia and No. 14 Kentucky. Oklahoma State also has players ranked in both singles and doubles. Julian Cash is ranked No. 18, Arjun Kadhe comes in at No. 69, and Lukas Finzelberg is No. 102. On the doubles side, the pair of Cash and Kadhe are ranked No. 4 in the nation, while Lucas Gerch and Jurence Mendoza come in at No. 31.
