Minneapolis, Minn. - The No. 39 ranked University of Minnesota men's tennis team returns to action Friday with a match at the University Miami.
Last weekend, the Gophers lost a close 4-3 battle to Wisconsin. The Badgers picked up the doubles point with wins in the No. 1 and 2 slots. Marino Alpeza and Justyn Levin were defeated 6-3 before No. 39 ranked Felix Corwin and Matic Spec lost in a tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles by a score of 7-6(4).
Stefan Milicevic picked up the first point of the day as he won 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 3 slot for his 10th win of the season. Alpeza was handed just his fourth loss of the year shortly after, giving the Badgers a 2-1 lead.
Minnesota battled back, as No. 68 Spec won at No. 1 singles for his seventh victory of the year. In classic Border Battle fashion, Wisconsin re-claimed the lead as Eli Ogilvy lost in three sets in the No. 4 singles slot.
The final point for the Maroon & Gold was earned by Josip Krstanovic, his seventh victory of the season. The Badgers clinched the match as Corwin fell at No. 2 singles in three sets.
The Gophers' match against the Hurricanes will be the final regular-season non-conference match of the season. Minnesota currently holds a 1-9 all-time record against Miami.
Following Friday's match, Big Ten play will resume as the Gophers travel to Nebraska March 24 for their second conference match.

The Gophers continue to see players in the rankings in both singles and doubles, while ranked No. 39 as a team. On the doubles side, Spec and Corwin are ranked No. 39 in the latest ITA National Tennis Rankings. Spec is also ranked No. 68 for singles.
