TEMPE, Ariz. (GopherSports.com) - The University of Minnesota men's track & field program kicked off the Sun Angel Classic at Arizona State on Friday night with a pair of top-10 performances in the men's premiere hammer throw.
Competing at Sun Angel Track Stadium, Gian Ferretti posted a third-place finish in his outdoor season debut while Mac Riedy finished ninth with his best throw of the season. Ferretti cleared 64.12 meters (210-04.25 ft.) on his sixth and final attempt of the night while Riedy hit 56.99 meters (186-11.50 ft.) on his second throw of the day.
The Gophers continue the Sun Angel Classic on Saturday while another contingency of Minnesota competitors are in action at UW-La Crosse' Ashton May Invitational in La Crosse, Wis.
