The University of Minnesota men's golf and women's hockey teams teamed up for their fifth annual Golf Open on Monday. Coaches, student-athletes and supporters took to the course at North Oaks Golf Club to raise funds for both programs. In addition to the golf tournament, the day included a silent auction, dinner and raffle.
The Gophers would like to thank everyone who helped make this event a success, especially sponsors Deborah Olson, Jean Schlemmer, J L Buchanan Inc., Julianne Bye, Xcel Energy and AdvisorNet Financial. All proceeds from the Golf Open go directly to the teams' service funds, which supplement their budgets for acquiring goods and services that would otherwise be unaffordable.
The men's golf team will start its 2017-18 season with the 13th annual Gopher Invitational Sept. 10-11 at Windsong Farm Golf Club. Minnesota's home tournament features a strong field including 2017 NCAA champion Oklahoma.
The Maroon and Gold's women's hockey season will begin with an exhibition game against Team Korea on Sept. 24 at Ridder Arena. The regular season starts with a home series against Merrimack on Sept. 29 and Oct. 1.
This Happy Gilmore drive by @GopherWHockey coach @FrostBrad has us wondering if he still has some NCAA eligibility left. pic.twitter.com/2nqL087zzW
