Gophers Sweep Northern Iowa 7-0 in Season Opener

Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Minnesota defeated Northern Iowa in their spring season opener 7-0 Friday, with no player or doubles pairing dropping a set.
Doubles
The pairing of Cammy Frei and Camila Vargas Gomez defeated their opponents 6-1, while Caroline Ryba and Tina Kreinis won 6-2. With the point already in hand, Caitlyn Merzbacher and Mehvish Safdar finished off their opponents 7-5.
Singles
Frei was quick to finish her opponent off in singles as well, winning 6-1, 6-0, followed by a 6-0, 6-1 win from Merzbacher and a 6-0, 6-2 win from Ryba.
Barbara Mancera won her match 6-1, 6-2, while Vargas Gomez won her match 6-1, 6-2. Kreinis capped off the victory for the Gophers with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
