Huber and Merzbacher paved their way to the tournament doubles quarterfinals with wins over Missouri State, Creighton and Kansas but ultimately were stopped by the OSU opposers by a score of 8-4 on Monday morning. The pairing finished their tournament weekend with a final doubles record of 3-1 with one of the wins coming over the eight-seeded Deming/Toran Ribes team.
Huber, who joins Juliet Zhang as the newest additions to the University of Minnesota women's tennis roster, has made her name known throughout the fall season with upset victories and tournament contentions throughout both the Gopher Invitational and ITA Central thus far. With a total combined record of 14-5 throughout the fall season, Huber has proven herself to be a tough contender on the Gophers' squad in her first two tournaments representing the Maroon and Gold.
"Tiffany had a great run in singles and getting a win over the #54 player in the country" head coach Catrina Thompson said. "Tiffany and Caitlyn upset the #8 seed in doubles to advance to the quarterfinals and lost a tough battle against the #24 team in the nation. Now it's time for us to get back to work on the courts as a team and prepare for our last tournament of the fall in a couple weeks."
