Gophers Enter Final Week of Regular Season Hosting Iowa; Travel to Penn State

MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota soccer enters the final week of regular season play as they fight for a spot in the Big Ten Tournament. The Gophers currently are tied for seventh with Iowa at 13 points in the standings where the top-eight teams qualify for the conference tournament. Minnesota is set to host Iowa on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Penn State to close out the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 21 at noon C.T.

GAME PROMOTIONS
Thursday's game versus Iowa will be a Pink Out game where fans are encouraged to support the fight against breast cancer with the Gophers. Free pink lemonade will be available on the concourse as well as a blanket making station for Masonic Children's Hospital cancer patients.

A flash ticket sale will also take place prior to the match on Thursday, Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All tickets purchased online will be $1 on Thursday only. Click here to purchase tickets online.

PARKING INFO
Lots available for parking include Gibbs Farm lot, Bell Museum (after 5 p.m.), Gortner Avenue Ramp, SC101 Flat Lot, SC 175 Flat Lot and a select number of lots at the Les Bolstad Driving Range. Lot SC101 and Gortner Ave Ramp will charge $1/hour after 5 p.m. while the Bell Museum, Les Bolstad Driving Range and Lot SC175 will charge a flat rate of $6.  

A shuttle is scheduled to run between all stops, excluding Les Bolstad Driving Range, and will drop all fans off right at ELR Stadium from their parking destinations. A second shuttle will be running from the Minneapolis East campus as well for students and fans. Pick up will take place at the Athlete's Village courtyard back by the MINNESOTA signage 30 minutes prior to kick off while pick up at Territorial Hall 20 minutes prior to kick off. The shuttle will leave ELR Stadium 15 minutes following the conclusion of the match. 

BOCKIN GOES BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK
For first time in her career, April Bockin has scored in three straight matches scoring a goal against Purdue and Indiana before netting a pair against Wisconsin. Scoring both goals for the Gophers against Wisconsin, Bockin has now recorded four multi-goal games in her career, two of which have come this season. Bockin currently leads the team with eight goals which ranks second in the Big Ten.

CLIMBING THE RECORD BOOKS
Recording an assist on Saturday against Wisconsin, Molly Fiedler has now tied April Bockin and Laurie Seidl for seventh all-time on the career assists list with 24. Both are now one shy of tying Corinne Bolder and Erin Hussey for fifth all-time. Their 24 career assists also ranks eighth among active Division I players.

KUEHN IS KEY
Sophomore defender Athena Kuehn is the only Gopher to have played in every minute so far this season. In the 16 games she has racked up 1,511 minutes of action helping the defense and goalkeepers Maddie Nielsen and Ana Aguado to a combined 1.07 goal against average.

SERIES HISTORY
The Gophers lead the all-time series with Iowa 8-2-3. The last meeting between the two Big Ten foes came on October 6, 2016 at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium where the Gophers took a 3-0 win while outshooting the Hawkeyes 15-4. The Gophers are outscoring Iowa in the series by a total of 17 to 8 and have allowed just three goals in the last five meetings.

Penn State leads the all-time series 19-5-1 over the Gophers. The teams tied 1-1 at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium in their last meeting on September 16, 2016. Simone Kolander scored the Gophers lone goal following an assist from April Bockin. The last time the two teams met in University Park, Pa., the Gophers upset the No. 4-ranked Nittany Lions following a goal by Simone Kolander in the 32nd minute.
