Gophers Wrap Up Day One of Minnesota Invite

The opening day of the Minnesota Invite was a day of PRs for the Gophers as three of the 10 Minnesota swimmers who competed in today's events topped their previous best times.
Tevyn Waddell swam a 4:45.42 in the 500-yard Freestyle to claim a PR and an event win for the Gophers. Her participation in the 500 Freestyle on day one was her first time competing the event since her junior year in high school. Her teammate Abbey Erwin took third in the event with a time of 4:50.32.
Eitan Yudashkin also came away from the first day of the Minnesota Invite with a new personal record. He completed the 50-yard Freestyle in 20.36, breaking the PR he set earlier this morning in the preliminary heats (20.59), to take fourth overall in the event.
Cale Berkoff's time of 1:53.43 in the 200-yard Individual Medley rounds out the day's PRs for the Gophers. He came in eighth overall in the event, touching the wall just after teammate Nick Saulnier who finished sixth after swimming a 1:51.22.
The Gophers return to the pool tomorrow morning as they kick off day two of the Minnesota Invite at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. The morning preliminaries begin at 9 a.m. and the evening finals start at 5 p.m.
