Webb Closes Out Michigan Meet with 200 Title

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Jonathan Webb ran the second fastest 200 meters in University of Minnesota men's track & field history on Saturday to claim the event crown at Michigan's Power 5 Invitational - one of six notable personal records for the Maroon & Gold at the U-M Indoor Track Building.

Webb clocked a 21.20 to pace the 200 meter field - second only in Gophers program history to Mitch Potter's 21.09 in 2004. He also added a sixth-place finish in the 60 meters at 6.85.

In addition to Webb's title in the 200, the Maroon & Gold had several other competitors gain ground in the school's top-10 all-time performance list.

Dawson LaRance added a runner-up finish in the 800 meters as his time of 1:50.00 now ranks 10th all-time at Minnesota. Matt Rosen came in eighth at 1:51.97.

Ryan Lockard claimed sole possession of sixth all-time at Minnesota in the high jump with his runner-up finish of 2.20 meters (7-02.50 ft.). Ben Gucinski came in 11th at 2.00 meters (6-06.75 ft.).

Connor Rousemiller threw his way into 10th all-time at Minnesota in the weight throw with his personal record of 20.22 meters (66-04.25 ft.). Rousemiller finished sixth while Kieran McKeag finished seventh at 19.01 meters (62-04.50 ft.) and Jon Nerdal came in 10th at 18.05 meters (59-02.75 ft.). McKeag added a 12th-place finish in the shot put at 15.69 meters (51-05.75 ft.) while Jonathan Tharaldsen finished 10th at 15.77 meters (51-09.00 ft.).

Evan Ferlic added a personal record in the 3,000 meters to finish fifth at 8:13.98 while Joey Duerr came in one spot ahead of his teammate in fourth at 8:13.02.

Sammie Houston also hit a personal record for the Maroon & Gold with his sixth-place finish at 14.77 meters (48-05.50 ft.). James Travis finished seventh at 14.36 meters (47-01.50 ft.). Teddy Frid hit 4.82 meters (15-09.75 ft.) for a new personal record in the pole vault, finishing eighth.

Minnesota's top 4x400 meter relay team of Webb, Ben Psicihulis, Jackson Wellenstein and Josh Tracy also ran 3:10.25 - the program's fastest time this year - to finish third.

Meanwhile, the Gophers carried two competitors in the 60-meter hurdle finals as Jon Tollefson finished third at 8.14 - his best time of the year - while Eric Walker finished seventh at 8.30. Mason Roomes cleared 7.25 meters (23-09.50 ft.) to finish fourth in the long jump while Wellenstein finished fourth in the 400 meters at 47.68 - his fastest time of the season. Shane Streich came in sixth in the mile with Minnesota's fastest time this year at 4:08.56.
