Distance Squad Races at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. - Megan Hasz, Carissa Dock, and Molly Eastman recorded career-best times to lead the Golden Gophers as members of the University of Minnesota women's track & field team distance corps competed at the Raleigh Relays on Friday night.
M. Hasz clocked a time of 34:19.8 to place sixth in the 10,000m run and moved into eighth place among all-time Gophers in the event. Molly Eastman ran a career-best 35:45.02 for 34th place followed by Emily Betz (36:54.70) and Abby Kargol (38:20.38).
Meanwhile, Dock led the Gophers in the 1,500m in a career-best 4:36.03 for 60th place in a field of 136 finishers. Abby Kohut-Jackson was 67th in 4:36.98, and Delaney FitzPatrick (4:50.82) and Paige Peschel (4:57.77) also ran their first races of the 2018 outdoor season.
Bethany Hasz (16:32.55) and Bailey Ness (17:26.93) also made their outdoor debuts in the 5,000m run. Hasz placed 27th while Ness was 75th of 136 runners.
Elyse Prescott (11:09.71) and Kelli Schmidt (11:48.21) both made their collegiate outdoor debuts in the 3,000m steeplechase as well.
The Gophers wrap up action at the Raleigh Relays in the 4x800m relay on Saturday while some of the team also competes at the Ole Miss Classic in Oxford, Miss., on Saturday.
