Gophers Fourth at Regionals, Ramler Advances

FINAL RESULTS
Lexy Ramler qualified for the NCAA Championships in the all-around as the Gophers took fourth place at the Minneapolis Regional.
Ramler went 39.500 for her second highest mark of the season doing all-around. The freshman took fifth overall and is one of two individuals to advance in all-around that were not part of a qualifying team. Minnesota finished with a 196.100 for fourth out of six teams. Denver took third with a 196.275. Kentucky and Oklahoma each advanced as teams to the NCAA Championships. Kentucky scored a 197.050 and Oklahoma went 198.000 for first.
"I am beyond excited to represent Minnesota at the NCAA Championships," Ramler said. "The crowd today was just packed and I definitely fed off that energy."
The Minneapolis Regional crushed a home postseason attendance record for the Gophers with 4,728 fans in attendance.
"It was electrifying today and that was fun to walk out and see. You couldn't find an open spot anywhere. I just really want to thank our fans for being here and supporting such a great gymnastics enviroment," head coach Jenny Hansen said. "I am really proud of how the team did. I am so excited about how we finished. Floor and vault aren't typically our best event but they delivered tonight."
The Gophers took home a pair of podium finishes. Ramler's 9.925 on beam was good for second and Paige Williams hit a career high 9.950 on floor for a second place finish.
The Maroon and Gold got off to a slow start on bars and beam before hitting high marks on floor and vault to close out the meet. Senior Hannah Hitchcock was a highlight on floor. She scored a career high on her first and last ever floor routine at the Pav with a 9.875.
BARS
The Gophers went 48.825 on bars after starting the meet on a bye. Ramler went 9.850 while Hitchcock and Ivy Lu each went 9.825. Lu had a historic season on bars this year. She goes down as the Big Ten champion on the event as well as a regular season First-Team All-American.
BEAM
Ramler's 9.925 highlighted beam for the Gophers. Mary Korlin-Downs notched a 9.775 on the event as the Gophers finished with a 48.850.
FLOOR
The Gophers went on a bye before floor and came out on fire. They recorded their second highest floor score of the season with a 49.300. Rachel Cutler got things rolling with a 9.850. She went 9.850 or higher four times this season on floor. Ramler also went 9.850 while Hitchock got the Pav rocking with her 9.875.
Paige Williams has been clutch in the anchor spot all season and did not disappoint this evening. She saw one judge flash a perfect 10 and finished with a career high 9.950. She did not score below a 9.800 and hit three straight 9.9s or higher to end the season.
VAULT
The Gophers ended the season with by tying their highest score on vault all season with a 49.125. Lexi Montgomery opened it up with a career high 9.800. Hitchock tied a career high with a 9.850 and Ramler went 9.875.
Thanks for Following All Season
The Gophers season came to an end as a team after competing in their 23rd straight NCAA Regionals. Ramler will head to St. Louis, Mo. to compete on April 20 at the NCAA Championships.
