No. 37 Gophers End Season in Sweet 16

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The No. 37-ranked Gopher Men's Tennis team fell 4-1 to No. 3 Ohio State on Saturday afternoon in the NCAA Tournament's round of 16 at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.
Jackson Allen earned the lone point for the Gophers with his 6-3, 7-5 defeat of No. 112 Martin Joyce.
Ohio State started out hot against No. 37 Minnesota (17-9), earning the doubles point by winning in No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Felix Corwin and Josip Krstanovic fell in No. 1 doubles 6-4 to Martin Joyce and JJ Wolf, while Marino Alpeza and Stefan Milicevic fell in No. 3 doubles 6-1 to Hunter Tubert and Matt Mendez. The No. 2 doubles pairing of Matic Spec and Justyn Levin won their match 6-4 over the No. 61 ranked pairing of Mikael Torpegaard and John McNally.
Marino Alpeza was the first to finish with a 6-3, 6-4 loss in the No. 6 singles spot, followed up by Josip Krstanovic falling 6-3, 7-5 to No. 96 Kyle Seelig in the No. 4 spot. Allen then earned the first ranked win of his collegiate career in the No. 5 spot, sweeping No. 112 Martin Joyce 6-3, 7-5. Allen's win earned Minnesota's lone point of the match.
Ohio State (33-2) clinched the win in No. 1 singles, when No. 6 Mikael Torpegaard defeated No. 53 Felix Corwin 7-6 (5), 6-0 to give Ohio State the 4-1 win.
No. 85 Matic Spec won his first set 6-4 against No. 41 JJ Wolf, but trailed 4-5 in the second upon Ohio State clinching the win, while No. 79 Stefan Milicevic trailed 6-2, 6-5 to No. 92 John McNally upon clinch.
The Regional Championship and trip to the round of 16 was the first for the Gophers since 2000.
