STARTING FIVE
• The Minnesota men's basketball team is back at the Barn Saturday night for its lone regular-season matchup with Penn State.
• Six games into the conference season, junior guard Amir Coffey is third the Big Ten averaging 21.0 points per game in Big Ten contests, just 0.3 points off the leader. Coffey has reached double figures in five of the Gophers six  Big Ten games, including a career-high 32 points against Nebraska.
• Freshman center Daniel Oturu is tied for fourth in conference play with 1.7 blocked shots per game, and third in the conference in blocks for all games played, averaging 1.8 per game. Jordan Murphy is third in Big Ten play in rebounding, pulling down 8.8 boards per game, and leads in overall rebounding with 11.6 rebounds per game on the season.
• Senior forward Jordan Murphy became the 10th player in Big Ten history with 1,500+ points and 1,000+ career rebounds. Additionally, Murphy broke Jim Brewer's 45-year old school record when he scored 18 points and 13 rebounds against Nebraska for his 52nd career double-double. Murphy is third in the nation in rebounding (12.1) and is ninth  in double-doubles (10) this season, as of Jan. 14.
• Several other Gophers have major career milestones on the horizon. Redshirt senior Brock Stull is just five points away from scoring 1,000 in his career, both at Milwaukee and Minnesota. Senior Dupree McBrayer is currently at 961 career points, 39 away from the millenium mark. Amir Coffey is at 927 career points through 68 games in his junior season.

SCOUTING THE NITTANY LIONS
• Penn State is looking to snap a five-game losing streak and earn their first victory in Big Ten Conference play this season. Despite their record, though, the Nittany Lions have seen single-digit margins of defeat in five of their seven Big Ten games this season.
• Lamar Stevens leads a trio of double-digit scorers averaging 18.1 points per game, a figure which ranks sixth in the conference.
